Actor Who Would “Never Give a Note” Caught Giving All the Notes

Lincoln Theatre Co’s Summer Mainstage: Insisting that he only gives “suggestions” New York-based “thespian” Coltan Evans was caught pulling aside three different members of the cast to talk about their performances throughout Sunday’s tech run of Of Mice and Men.

“He casually asked me if I wanted to get some equity coffee with him” stated Abigial Miller who is playing the role of Curly’s wife, “but then he immediately started pestering me to work on my timing in the first scene. And he’s not even on stage with me until Act II.”

Evans was also spotted at the local pub after opening night handing 3x5 index cards to fellow actors with “a few thoughts” about each character. While some saw this as a kind opening night gesture similar to a thank you note, others were not so pleased. George Horatio stated for the record, “Writing ‘Nice Job! Slim is really coming together! Keep working on his physicality!’ is not a thank you note, it’s just a note note.”

Another actor who wishes to remain anonymous, reported that Evans complained to Equity about a non union cast member asking him to move over in the wings. When reached for comment a representative of Actor’s Equity responded, “this doesn’t fall under my jurisdiction. Also, that’s not a note.”

At presstime, Evans was seen forcing the rest of the cast into a “fun group warm up.” “I just feel like we really need to get the energy up and FOCUS tonight!” he said before leading a game of Zip! Zap! Zop!

Evans can be seen Curly in Of Mice and Men at the Lincoln Theatre Company, Fridays and Saturdays through June 24.
