Theatre at Billington faced pushback last Monday night after news got out that they had sent initial offers out before their video submission deadline of March 8th. Theatre at Billington, an Equity House, will be performing an all-male Pajama Game from June 10- August 28. They stated on their website that they are “Committed to casting people who aren’t just our friends from the last show.”
Artistic director, Herman Harris was unavailable for comment stating only, “Whoops!... Wait… how do they know I didn’t watch it?” before hanging up.
Company manager Rohan Benes later called back, adding, “By saying that we were accepting video submissions, we just meant that we do have working internet and that we won’t be throwing our computers out of the window! We didn't mean we would be watching your clips! Sorry for the confusion.”
Hackstage estimates that the average video submission takes 5-10 hours and can often cost upwards of 50 to 60 dollars in apartment damages (not to mention having to buy your reader/Significant Other/roomate a beer.) We recommend traveling to the theatre at your own expense, and/or Facetiming the casting director until they notice you.
