Hell Hath No Fury Like Extras on Taco Day

By the time the news reached Benjamin Ruskin that it was “Taco Day” on set of The Everyman (coming to Oxygen June 2018) he was already three meal penalties deep. “We had been in holding since 6am and they hadn’t even taken us to set yet. People were getting antsy, but it was more than that. There was a desperation creeping into the room,” Ruskin griped.

The Everyman, a period piece set in 1840 about an everyday man who also happens to be a hero (he chooses not to sleep with a prostitute in one scene and gives a homeless man a nickel in another) is reportedly tens of thousands of dollars over budget, and continues to hemorrhage money weekly. “You can tell they are cutting corners with the Non-Union Crafty,” reported Ruskin. “They only have one kind of tea, and the pretzels are stale. But Taco Day? That felt like things were finally going right for us.”

Unfortunately, for Ruskin and the rest of the background actors, Taco Day was not going to be all they hoped. The company allegedly ran out of cheese halfway through the crew line, and the guacamole was gone within minutes.

“I sat there smelling the tacos, and by the time I got there all that was left was some measly lettuce.” stated one extra who wishes to remain anonymous. “I felt a rage come over me and I just started pushing over tables and throwing bowls on the ground.”“Something inside me just snapped.” stated Ruskin, who was also part of the riot. “I was throwing tomatoes and screaming and crying." The room was in shambles by the time riot concluded. Food on the floor, chairs thrown through windows. Union cards being burned.”

The Everyman is on hold until further investigations can be processed. And as for Ruskin? “This show was supposed to be about an everyday hero man. Well today, that hero man was me. And I know that one day I will see justice, when the events of today get their own HBO mini series.”
