Actress Demolishes Entire Apartment Building Trying To Get Right Light For Self Tape

New York, NY

Self tapes can be stressful experiences. From poor video quality to terrible line readings by your scene partner/boyfriend/roommate (who is also an actor and definitely trying to sabotage you), any number of things can go horribly awry. NYC actress Mara Britland learned that the hard way on Thursday when she inadvertently destroyed her entire apartment building while trying to get the lighting “just right” for her Jamestown Regional Theatre audition.

The ordeal began just after 12pm on Thursday, when Britland finally decided to get around to taping the damn thing just 12 hours before the strict deadline set by the theater. Although she has put together self tapes in her apartment in the past, Britland admitted “the lighting just seemed different” this time. “There was this weird shadow on my face, so I started re-arranging things in my room” she said in a statement. Police are still investigating the details of what happened next, but it is clear that sometime between the hours of 12 and 3pm, Britland managed to bring her entire 4 story apartment building tumbling to the ground.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured in the building collapse. Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, including Britland’s boyfriend Thom, who was assisting her as a reader for the self tape.

Despite the disastrous results for her building and everyone living in it, Britland reports that she managed to get “a few good takes in” before the collapse and submitted her video just in time. At presstime, her video submission had received zero views.
