#IwasNotCast: “I Painted Myself Green”

Hannah Treforth reallys knows how to make an impression. When she saw the ECC for the Wicked national tour, she knew the competition was going to be stiff! “I definitely can’t sing Defying Gravity in the original key,” remembers Treforth, “so I needed to find a way to separate myself.” As it turned out, she needed to look no further than her day job: as a child’s birthday party clown, Treforth has access to a plethora of colored facepaints! She knew just what she had to do.

“From the moment I walked into the holding room, I could feel all eyes on me,” she said, “I had picked out an incredible orange dress to compliment my green facepaint.” Treforth, who is a subscriber to Hackstage advocates for making big, bold choices, not just in acting, but in how you present yourself. “As my teachers always told me, ‘make the casting directors’ job easy--never ask them to use their imagination!”

Although she didn’t get seen this time, Treforth doesn’t count the day a loss. “I felt like I did defy gravity today--someday all my hard work will pay off and maybe soon the paint will wash off too”

Go get ‘em Hannah! Make everyone else green with jealousy!
