There are lots of good reasons to be an actor. The “work.” The “humanity.” The “money.” But the pros get into acting for something more. Something bigger than themselves. Here are some real and rewarding reasons to pursue a career in the arts.
1. Because You Can Get Back at Your Highschool Boyfriend

Nothing says “Look Brandon! I am talented and pretty and people like me!” like landing a Broadway show.
2. Because You Will Change the World for the Better

That regional theater's reimagining of The Addam’s Family is really going to make a difference in some lives.
3. Because You Could Nab The Straightie in the Chorus

Someday, your summer stock slutty phase will be nothing more than a beautiful love story to tell your grandchildren.
4. Because You Need To Prove To Your Meisner Teacher that he was “wrong about you”

But you will never, never stop hearing his voice in your head.
5. Because you were a child star whose sister was always more talented than you but then she eloped with a handsome dancer, leaving you to do the double act yourself. As luck would have it, your mom/manager booked you at a burlesque show by accident one night, but then you realized that this was your true calling and now you’ve become the world’s greatest burlesque star, but you still feel empty and resentful about your stolen childhood

Dreams do come true!
